It's nice to see you. Meet our EyeJoy staff.
Monica left West Texas (Odessa, to be exact) for a change of scenery here in Austin. If she’s not at EyeJoy, you can find her hiking in the Green Belt with her corgi, Bowser, or going to one of the many shows that Austin holds every night; throw in a dash of Bob Dylan or Drake and some queso fries for an ideal day. She enjoys helping people turn their day around if they come in with an eye related issue.
Growing up in Oak Cliff, Chris took a brief hiatus from Texas and lived in NYC before coming back to Austin. In his free time, Chris experiments with designing flyers and artwork, and he’ll always have new music playing in the background. He particularly enjoys going to McKinney Falls and Enchanted Rock. Chris’ favorite part about the industry is viewing the new eyewear collections each season.
After growing up in Chicago and finishing up college in Indiana, Kari made her way down to the Lonestar state. When she’s not managing EyeJoy, you can find her climbing at Austin Bouldering Project, spending time surrounded by nature or studying for school. Kari’s favorite aspect of the industry is the functionality behind glasses - not only are they a fashion accessory, they help people *see*!
Kayla moved to Austin in 2011 to study at UT and hasn’t left since! When she’s not assisting patients and ensuring all of our ordering is going smoothly, you’ll most likely find her experimenting with new recipes for a dessert or an elaborate dinner. When she’s not taste testing her newest creations, she can be found in a park with her dogs, Cooper and Goose.
Before living in Austin, Laura used to reside in Miami, FL. In her down time she works on hand embroidered commissions, finding new hiking spots with her chihuahua/schiperkee mix Stella, and frequenting Alamo Drafthouse. Her favorite aspect of the optical industry is discovering different personalities through unique, independent frames!
Hong has lived in Austin longer than all the other EyeJoy staff combined. He met Dr. Park when they were undergrads at UT, and they've been inseparable for over 18 years. When he's not filing insurance and finalizing your optical orders, Dr. Park keeps him busy with a laundry list of to-do's. He's a proud dad to 4-year-old Blake and 1-year-old Dylan.
